Pascal Rogé exemplifies the finest in French pianism. Born in Paris, he was a student of the Paris Conservatory and was also mentored by Julius Katchen and the great Nadia Boulanger. Winner of Georges Enesco piano competition and 1st prize of Marguerite Long Piano competition, he became an exclusive Decca recording artist at the age of seventeen. His playing of Poulenc, Satie, Fauré, Saint-Saëns and especially Ravel, is characterized by its elegance, beauty and stylistically perfect phrasing.
Mr Rogé has performed in almost every major concert hall in the world and with every major orchestra across the globe and has collaborated with the most distinguished conductors in history, including Lorin Maazel, Michael Tilson Thomas, Mariss Jansons, Charles Dutoit, Kurt Masur, Edo de Waart, Alan Gilbert, David Zinman, Marek Janowski, Sir Andrew Davis, Raymond Leppard and others.
Recently, Pascal has enjoyed playing recitals for four-hands/two-pianos with his partner in music Barbara Binet. They just recorded a CD dedicated to the French and American 4 hands repertoire.
Pascal Rogé is also dedicated to teaching and gives regular masterclasses in France, Japan, United States and United Kingdom and is also a professor at L’Ecole Normale de Paris.
Barbara Binet was born in 1967 and she began learning the piano at the age of five with Dalia Ouziel in Waterloo.
She attended master-classes with Youri Egorov, Abdel Rahman El Bacha and Gyorgy Sandor, then pursued her studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, at the Musikhochschule in Lübeck and at the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, where she was the assistant of her teacher James Tocco. She graduated from these institutions with the highest honors, both in piano performance and in chamber music.
First prize in the Günther, Verviers, Jeunes Talents and Pro Civitate national competitions, Barbara Binet is a prize winner of the international competitions Senigallia, Vercelli and Maria Canals.
A sought-after partner of international soloists and ensembles, she has performed notably with the Danel, Amati, Grieg and Sine Nomine string quartets, the Quintette Moragues, as well as many renowned international musicians.
She has performed extensively across Europe, the USA, South America and in Japan.
She now plays regularly with the French pianist Pascal Rogé.
